Swiss Women's 7s Teams take 6th and 13th place at Stansilas 7s tournament

TOURNAMENT REPORT BY HEAD COACH PETRA TRETTER:
The tournament in Nancy was a fantastic competition in preparation for the European Championship Group A to be held on June 20-21 in Kaunas, Lithuania. Since we had only 6-7 players for the Development Team (many injuries) and 11 players for the Cadre Team, every player needed to work more than usual. Luckely we were allowed to send 2-3 players of the Cadre Team to support the Development Team and luckely we never played at the same time. At each game there were 2 different players from the Cadre Team supporting the Development Team and all in all they played 13 games. That it all worked out, I had to make a tide and organised plan and the players had to deal with short time slots for recovery in between. That was demanding for all of us and I want to say a big thanks and a big „chapeau" to all the players. They showed solidarity, they supported each other, nobody was complaining and even on the second day when only 4 players of the Development Team were able to play, no question that the cadre players filled in positions. And they had fun, which is the most important point of playing successful Rugby.

All the cadre players followed a intense fitness plan throughout the saison and that payed off at that weekend. Their passing increased, the tackling increased, the support increased, the quickness, the short offload, the defensive line, the individual performance increased... again a big compliment to all the players. Also the 5 new players in the Cadre Team are a win. A bit shy in the beginning they showed after the first couple games that they defenitly belong to the Cadre Team. I can say we have some potential there which is extremly comfortable.

The Cadre of the Swiss Women’s Sevens Rugby became 6th of the tournament, having lost the last game against TUKS LADIES from South Africa very close with 7 to 10 points. The Development Team reached place 13 and ended the tournament with a big win against NSR, a french Club Team. Result: 29 to 5!
