Switzerland Supported by Rugby Europe and by Italy in Referee Education
As part of the World Rugby/Rugby Europe Training & Education Support "TES" scheme, Domenico Sironi (FIR) delivered the 1st part of a World Rugby/Rugby Europe Level 2 Match Officiating Course for the Swiss Rugby Federation (FSR) in Lausanne.
9 referees took part on the Course which is a mixture of practical and theoretical modules and is entitled "Developing Officiating Skills". This course is designed to provide referees with the skills needed to referee age grade and senior matches in the club environment.
In order to complete the course towards competency, the referees must now undertake some planning and review work and be observed refereeing in their domestic leagues before completing Part 2 of the course.
Many thanks must go to Domenico and the FIR for supporting this project and to Rachel Allen from the FSR for organising it and assisting Domenico with the Course delivery.
Unions in Europe that have requested this support for 2015 will shortly be contacted for further details for project implementation.
